Veneers are probably the most searched cosmetic dental treatment in India right now. Part of it is social media. Part of it is that people are finally realising they do not have to live with a chipped front tooth or a gap they have hidden in photos for ten years.
But the moment you start looking at prices, it gets messy. ₹3,000 per tooth here. ₹25,000 per tooth there. Some clinics call them veneers, others call them laminates. And nobody explains why.
So here is a plain guide. What veneers cost in Mumbai, what the different types really are, how many you might need, and the mistakes we see people make when they go for the cheapest option.
The short answer
- Composite veneers at Designer Smiles start from ₹10,000 per tooth.
- Porcelain veneers at Designer Smiles start from ₹15,000 per tooth.
- E.max veneers are a premium type of porcelain and usually sit at the higher end. Your exact figure is given after consultation.
- Across Mumbai, porcelain veneers commonly cost around ₹10,000 to ₹25,000 per tooth, depending on the clinic, the lab and the material.
- Most people do not need just one veneer. A natural looking smile usually involves 4 to 10 teeth, so think about the total, not only the per tooth price.
First, what is a veneer?
A veneer is a thin shell that is fixed to the front surface of a tooth. It changes the colour, shape or size of that tooth.
Think of it like a new face for the tooth. The tooth underneath stays. Only the front part you see when you smile gets covered.
"Veneers" and "laminates" mean the same thing in most Indian clinics. Different word, same treatment.
What veneers can fix
- Stains that whitening cannot remove
- Chipped or broken edges
- Small gaps between front teeth
- Teeth that are too short, uneven or oddly shaped
- Mild crookedness (where full alignment is not needed)
- Old fillings at the front that do not match anymore
What veneers cannot fix
- Badly crooked teeth or a bite problem. These need aligners or braces first.
- Teeth with large decay or weak structure. These may need a zirconia crown instead.
- Gum disease. This has to be treated before any cosmetic work.

Composite vs porcelain vs E.max: the honest comparison
| Composite veneers | Porcelain veneers | E.max veneers | |
|---|---|---|---|
| What it is | Tooth-coloured resin, shaped directly on your tooth | Thin ceramic shell made in a dental lab | A strong, premium glass-ceramic (lithium disilicate) made in a lab |
| Starting price at Designer Smiles | From ₹10,000 per tooth | From ₹15,000 per tooth | Higher end, given after consultation |
| Visits | Often one visit | Usually two or more | Usually two or more |
| How long it lasts | Around 5 to 7 years with good care | Often 10 to 15 years or more | Often 10 to 15 years or more |
| Stain resistance | Can pick up stains from tea, coffee and smoking over time | Very good | Very good |
| Natural look | Good, depends a lot on the dentist's skill | Very natural, reflects light like enamel | Very natural, with excellent translucency |

Choose composite if
- You want a quick change, sometimes in a single visit
- You want to keep your natural tooth as untouched as possible
- You are young and want a lower cost start, knowing you may upgrade later
- You only need to fix one or two small things, like a chip

Choose porcelain or E.max if
- You want the most natural, long lasting result
- You drink a lot of tea or coffee and want something that will not stain
- You are doing a full smile makeover across many teeth
- You want to think in terms of cost per year, not just the upfront bill
See our page on E.MAX veneers for more detail.
How much will a full set of veneers cost?
Here is the part most clinics do not show you. Your total depends on how many teeth show when you smile.
| Number of teeth | Composite (from ₹10,000 each) | Porcelain (from ₹15,000 each) |
|---|---|---|
| 2 front teeth | From ₹20,000 | From ₹30,000 |
| 4 teeth | From ₹40,000 | From ₹60,000 |
| 6 teeth | From ₹60,000 | From ₹90,000 |
| 8 teeth | From ₹80,000 | From ₹1,20,000 |
| 10 teeth | From ₹1,00,000 | From ₹1,50,000 |

These are starting figures only. Your written quote comes after your consultation.
Why not just do the two front teeth? Sometimes that is exactly right. But if only two teeth are made bright white and perfect, they can look out of place next to the teeth beside them. A good cosmetic dentist will look at your whole smile line, not just the tooth that bothers you.

What pushes the price up or down?
- The material. Composite costs less. Porcelain and E.max cost more because they are made in a lab.
- The lab. A skilled dental technician makes a big difference to how natural the veneer looks. Better labs cost more, and it shows.
- How many teeth. Obvious, but it is the biggest factor.
- Prep work. Whitening before veneers, gum shaping, or aligning teeth first all add to the plan.
- Trial smile. Some cases include a mock-up so you can see and approve the shape before anything permanent is done.
- The dentist's experience. Veneers are as much about artistry as dentistry. Shape, length and shade have to suit your face, not a template.
Red flags with cheap veneers
We see patients who come in after cheap veneers elsewhere. The problems are usually the same.
- Too white. A flat, paper-white shade that looks fake from across the room. Natural teeth have depth and slight colour variation.
- Too thick. Bulky veneers that make the teeth look puffy or push the lips out.
- Too much tooth removed. Healthy enamel shaved down more than needed. This cannot be undone.
- Gum trouble. Poorly fitted edges that trap food and irritate the gums.
- No plan. Veneers placed on crooked teeth without fixing alignment first, so the result looks odd.
A lower price is not a bad thing on its own. But ask to see before and after photos of the dentist's own work, and ask how much tooth will be shaped.
Veneers or something else? Quick guide
| Your concern | Often the best first step |
|---|---|
| Yellow teeth, no chips or shape issues | Teeth whitening |
| One small chip | Composite bonding |
| Gaps, uneven shape, deep stains | Veneers |
| Crooked teeth or bite problem | Aligners first, then veneers if needed |
| Weak, heavily filled or broken tooth | Zirconia crown |
| Gummy smile | Gum contouring, sometimes with veneers |

Many people actually need a mix of these. That is what a smile makeover is: a plan that puts the right treatment in the right order.
How veneers are done at Designer Smiles
- Consultation. Dr. Kavita Bhat Kumar or our cosmetic team looks at your teeth, gums, bite and face. We ask what bothers you and how you want your smile to feel.
- Planning your smile. Shape, length and shade are planned to suit your face. Where helpful, a mock-up lets you preview the look before anything permanent is done.
- Preparation. For porcelain or E.max, the tooth surface is gently prepared and a scan or impression is taken. You leave with temporary veneers.
- Lab work. Your veneers are made by skilled technicians who work to global standards.
- Fitting. The veneers are checked for fit, shade and bite, then bonded in place.
- Review. A follow-up visit checks your bite and gums and shows you how to care for your new smile.

And every appointment comes with our Signature Comfort Menu: your own music, a fleece blanket if you want it, a warm towel and neck massage afterwards, and a cup of Kashmiri Kahwa.
How to make veneers last longer
- Brush twice a day and floss. Veneers do not decay, but the tooth underneath and the gums still can.
- Do not bite nails, pens or ice. Do not open packets with your teeth.
- If you grind your teeth at night, wear a night guard.
- Cut down on tea, coffee and smoking if you have composite veneers.
- Come in for check-ups and cleaning every six months.

Frequently Asked Questions about Veneers Cost in Mumbai
At Designer Smiles, composite veneers start from ₹10,000 per tooth and porcelain veneers start from ₹15,000 per tooth. Across Mumbai, porcelain veneers commonly range from about ₹10,000 to ₹25,000 per tooth depending on the clinic, lab and material.
Porcelain lasts longer, resists stains better and looks more natural for longer. Composite costs less, is often done in one visit and is easier to repair. The right one depends on your teeth, your budget and how long you want the result to last.
Porcelain veneers usually involve shaping a thin layer of enamel, so you will always need some kind of covering on those teeth. The veneers themselves can last 10 to 15 years or more with good care, and can be replaced when needed.
Most patients feel very little. Local anaesthesia is used where needed. Some people notice mild sensitivity for a few days after fitting.
They can hide mild crookedness. For teeth that are clearly out of line, aligning them first with Invisalign usually gives a better and longer lasting result.
In India, the words are used for the same treatment. Both mean a thin shell fixed to the front of the tooth.
Composite veneers can often be done in one visit. Porcelain and E.max veneers usually need two or more visits, with lab work in between.
Not when they are planned properly. A natural result comes from choosing the right shade, shape and thickness for your face. Fake looking veneers are usually too white, too thick or too uniform.
